The core engine was a 4.5-liter V8 (M02.02) in base and S trims, with a high-performance 4.5L turbo V8 (M48.00) for the Turbo model. Some markets also received a 3.2L VR6 petrol engine. Late 2006 saw introduction of a 4.8L V8 in the Cayenne S.
